Product Testing

Product testing is a critical component of ensuring the safety, quality, and compliance of your products with regulatory standards and consumer expectations.

Various product categories are subject to mandatory SNI testing and certification. The essential documents required for SNI approval include:

Local Business Representative or Importer in Indonesia
Trademark Certificate issued by Indonesian Authority or proof of Trademark Registration
Product Catalogue or Brochure
Technical Specifications
Production and Quality Assurance/Quality Control flowchart process
Quality Manual and/or equivalent procedures (translated into Indonesian)
Valid ISO 9001 certificate or equivalent
Company’s legal notary act and business license (translated into Indonesian).

Upon reviewing the company’s application, a laboratory test will be conducted on randomly sampled products from the factory and/or the market.

In Indonesia, various testing schemes are employed. For instance, in scheme type 1b, testing is mandated to be conducted by a laboratory designated by the Minister of Industry, with random product sampling carried out at the manufacturer’s premises in the country of origin, and testing conducted for each shipment. Under scheme type 5, an additional requirement involves a factory audit or inspection to ascertain compliance with the production process, facility, and quality management system. Should any issues arise during a factory audit, manufacturers are given the opportunity to implement corrective actions. Once these actions have been verified, the certification process can proceed accordingly.
